چکیده
Dr. Leonard Kim is the chief medical physicist at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden, New Jersey. Prior to coming to Cooper, he worked at Rutgers University and William Beaumont Hospital. He holds a MS in radiological physics from Wayne State University as well as doctorate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Kim is in support of the proposition. Dr. Chen obtained his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from University of Pennsylvania in 2003. In the same year he joined New York University as a research scientist conducting research in the field of MRIbased cardiac imaging and image analysis. He finished his medical physics residency at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in 2010, and became a faculty member at the same institute after his graduation. His main research interests include medical image analysis, physics modeling in image segmentation and registration, image guided radiation therapy, and new techniques in brachytherapy. He has authored and co-authored over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently the lead brachytherapy physicist, and the assistant director of the medical physics residency program at the Radiation Oncology department of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Dr. Chen, on the other hand, has different opinions on this topic.

The Optimal Design of the VSI T^2 Control Chart
Recent studies have shown that the variable sampling interval (VSI) scheme helps practitioners detect process shifts more quickly than the classical scheme (FRS). In this paper, the economically and statistically optimal design of the VSI T2 control chart for monitoring the process mean vector is investigated. The cost model proposed by Lorenzen and Vance (1986) is minimized through a genetic a...
متن کاملStandardized patients versus simulated patients in medical education: are they the same or different
In order to equip medical students with all the necessary skills in dealing with patients to provide optimal treatment, the need for the use of real patients in educational settings has become prominent. But all the required skills cannot be practiced on real patients due to patients’ safety and well-being. Thus, the use of standardized patients (SPs) or simulated patients (SiPs) as a substitut...

متن کاملA New Bootstrap Based Algorithm for Hotelling’s T2 Multivariate Control Chart
Normality is a common assumption for many quality control charts. One should expect misleading results once this assumption is violated. In order to avoid this pitfall, we need to evaluate this assumption prior to the use of control charts which require normality assumption. However, in certain cases either this assumption is overlooked or it is hard to check. Robust control charts and bootstra...
متن کاملPeykan check, a simple continuous quality control method for hematology analyzers
A simple inexpensive con!nuous quality control method, by means of eight basic blood coun!ng parameters, obtained from automated hematology analyzers, using pa!ent samples, is described. A few samples with low, normal and high values were selected and introduced to the instrument early in the morning as the first count, the results of which are plo#ed on the appropriate chart as dots. The sa...
